Corruption Allegations in Periyar Knowledge Centre Book Purchase – CM Vijay Launches Sharp Attack on DMK!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has strongly criticised the DMK over allegations of irregularities in the procurement of books for the Periyar Knowledge Centre and Science Centre in Coimbatore, a project reportedly developed at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore.

The controversy erupted after writer Perumal Murugan raised allegations of corruption in the purchase of books for the centre. Murugan, who was part of the committee recommending books for the new libraries, reportedly brought the alleged irregularities to light.

Responding to the issue, Chief Minister Vijay issued a statement launching a sharp attack on the DMK, accusing the party of using the names of Periyar and the Tamil language for political gain while engaging in corruption.

Vijay also referred to alleged corruption complaints involving various departments during the previous DMK government, questioning how irregularities could occur in a public institution established for the benefit of students and future generations.

He expressed concern over the alleged misuse of public funds and asserted that those responsible must be held accountable.

The controversy surrounding book procurement at the Periyar Knowledge Centre has now triggered a fresh political debate in Tamil Nadu.
